Rutgers University Graduate Student Housing

Project: Rutgers University Graduate Student Housing

Project Description: Construction officially began on the southern 300 block of Cooper Street in Camden, NJ during a groundbreaking ceremony held on April 4, 2011. By August of 2012, the once vacant lot will be replaced by a 12 story, 161,653 square-foot student housing facility owned by Rutgers University. The project will be built by general contractor Joseph Jingoli & Son of Lawrenceville, NJ, and marks the first new student housing development at the Rutgers-Camden campus since 1989. Recent record enrollments in undergraduate and graduate programs from both in and out of state students has solidified the current demand for increased student housing on campus. Designed by Erdy McHenry Architecture of Philadelphia, PA and structural engineers The Harman Group of King of Prussia, PA, the new facility will provide the university with 102 units in three and four bedroom configurations. All units will include common living areas, kitchens, and bathrooms. Below the residential floors will be approximately 7,000 square feet of retail space. This is the latest Girder-Slab project designed by The Harman Group. Previous projects include North Beach at Asbury Park in Asbury Park, NJ and the Mt. Airy Casino Resort in Mount Pocono, PA. Congratulations to The Berlin Steel Construction Company of Malvern, PA who, as the Authorized Distributor of the Girder-Slab System, will supply and install all structural steel and precast hollowcore slabs. The precast hollowcore slabs will be manufactured by Boccella Precast LLC of Berlin, NJ.

University of Michigan North Quad

Project: University of Michigan North Quad

Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan

Project Description: Completed in 2010, North Quad became the campus's first new residence hall in 42 years. North Quad consists of two L-shaped structures, a 7 story academic building consisting of standard structural steel and a 10 story residence hall also consisting of standard structural steel and the Girder-Slab System. The 360,000 SF project will combine academic facilities and residential space for 460 students. The total steel package, approximately 2,500 tons has been awarded to Art Iron, Inc. of Toledo, Ohio.

Project Description: Built by Jingoli Construction of Lawrenceville, NJ, this student housing facility is the first project to integrate a 5 story cast-in-place concrete parking structure with 9 stories of The Girder-Slab System for the residential elevations.

Location: Kutztown, Pennsylvania

Project Description: Construction began in late September 2006 on Kutztown University's 258,000 + S.F. multi-story residence hall for freshman and upper-class students. This project includes retail space and meeting rooms in addition to 856 beds in a variety of 1 and 2 bed configurations, and several apartment style units. Construction is expected to be completed in August 2008.

Project Description: Built by Centex Construction Company of Charlotte, NC, this 4 story student housing facility includes 77,400 Square Feet of the Girder-Slab System.

Project Description: Built by J.J. Deluca Company, Inc. of Wayne, PA, this 7 story, approximately 85,000 Square Foot student housing facility was erected in approximately 33 days in winter conditions.

Project: Lawrenceville Graduate Apartments at Princeton University

Project Description: Built by the Henderson Corporation of Raritan, NJ, this project included three buildings. Two at 6 stories and one at 7 stories. Erection time was approximately 20 days for each of the three buildings.

University of North Florida Osprey Fountains Student Housing

Project: University of North Florida Osprey Fountains Student Housing

Location: Jacksonville, Florida

Project Description: Construction began October 24, 2007 on Osprey Fountains, the tallest, largest-capacity, and most amenity-laden residence hall at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. Osprey Fountains will open to UNF students in August 2009. The project consists of four five-story residential towers totaling 370,000-square-feet providing housing for 1,000 upper-class UNF students. Osprey Fountains will offer single and double-room suites with two bathrooms.

Project Description: A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on August 22, 2011 to mark the opening of B.E.S.T. (Busch Engineering Science and Technology) at Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ. Designed by architectural firm Niles Bolton Associates of Atlanta, GA and structural engineers O’Donnell & Naccarato of Philadelphia, PA the new residence complex consists of three 4-story buildings totaling approximately 150,000 square feet. The project is being built by the Turner Construction Company of Somerset, NJ. Congratulations to Stewart-Amos Steel, Inc. from Harrisburg, PA on having been awarded their first Girder-Slab project. The precast hollow core slabs will be supplied by Nitterhouse Concrete Products from Chambersburg, PA.
